Dr. Reo Franklin Fortune was a social anthropologist who lived for many months with the Dobuans, speaking their language and become a member of a clan. He "presents a first-hand picture of the social dynamics of a Malenesian tribe... He was initiated into both blanc and white magical asts by the chief magician of the village." Dr. Fortune was married to the anthropologist Dr. Margaret Mead. He also contributed the number theory named after him to the field of mathematics.
