About This Item
London: Wright & Brown, 1939. First edition. . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First edition in a variant issue of the first state dust jacket, lacking the designation "An Entirely New Book" but with the price of 3/6 on the spine. Most titles by this publisher listed at the same price, though a few are followed by a price of "4/-"; also, a red paste-on sticker priced "4/6", which previously covered the original spine price, has been expertly removed, now set in loosely. No date, but 1939. No statement of printing on copyright page. Ads at back. Original orange cloth with faded spine, suggesting this jacket may have been married to this book. Jacket has been trimmed at edges. Previous backing has been expertly removed, with a few tears closed on verso with Japanese paper. An elusive book, particularly in jacket.
