About This Item

London: William Blake (Oakland: Octavo), 1794; 1826; 2003. 1st edition. Other Binding. New/No Jacket (as issued). Digital facsimile (in electronic PDF format on CD-ROM disc; not a printed book) of two magnificently hand-painted copies of Blake's most famous illuminated book. Copies C (1794) and Z (1826) from the Lessing J. Rosenwald Collection at the U. S. Library of Congress present two radically distinct approaches by the artist, from early and late in his career. This disc includes images of both books, cover-to-cover in high resolution (may be magnified at up to 300% of original size), searchable transcriptions of the text, an introductory commentary, bibliographical information, an account of each copy's provenance, and a special plate-by-plate comparison feature that allows close contrast of Blake's early and late technique. Unsold original stock, minor storage wear.

Synopsis

"William Blake's Songs of innocence and of experience is reproduced by permission from copy E, 54039, in the Henry E. Huntington Library"--T.p. verso. Includes bibliographical references and index.

Philip Smith, Bookseller

Payment in full by Visa/MC, cash, check, money order, or Amex/Discover (processed by Biblio) with order. Books can be held up to 10 days upon request; email is the preferred (and quickest) means of communication. Postage is extra: orders through Biblio are charged at their prevailing rates; otherwise, postage cost will be quoted upon request (optional insurance is extra at cost). All items are graded conservatively using consistent standards: generally speaking, 'Fine' is the best condition class, followed by 'Very Good', 'Good', 'Fair', and 'Poor' (these can be considered as analogous to letter grades A, B, C, D, F: the latter two classes are rarely offered). Please inquire if you have any questions about the condition of an item listed. Any purchase may be returned for refund if deemed unsatisfactory upon receipt. I will be glad to ship with invoice to academic institutions in advance of payment if a purchase order is provided. Dealers may inquire for reciprocal trade discount.
