New York: Harper & Brothers. Very Good in Fair dust jacket. 1954. 1st American Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. This book is in Very Good condition and has a Fair dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends of the book covers have some light bumping. The text pages are clean and bright. There are two spots of marker ink on the front endpaper. The dust jacket has several edge tears, nicks and spots of rubbing and wear. The rear panel has a large crease with rubbing and crinkling. There are spots of fading and discoloration to the rear panel as well. The spine of the dust jacket has wear, rubbing and wrinkling. There is a long wrinkled tear to the rear flap. "Procter is best known for his series of police procedural novels featuring Detective Chief Inspector Harry Martineau of the Granchester City Police. In his novels Granchester was an industrial city in the north of England. Procter based the city on Manchester. When his novel Hell Is a City (which was published in the United States with the title Somewhere in This City) was filmed in 1960 with Stanley Baker as Martineau, it was shot on-location in Manchester."
