First Edition. softcover. Very good-. Stories about slavery in South Carolina and the songs that were brought over from Africa and blended into Christianity. Gullah is really a language from a mixture of African Bantu dialects that came to life in the Carolina low country rice fields. The book has an eighth inch nick on the back top corner, shelf wear all around and the previous owners name on the front cover. In addition there is foxing on the edges. The corners are square and the pages are clean and intact.
