Saint Johnsbury East, VT: Owl Printer Works. Good with no dust jacket. [1898]. First Edition. Hardcover. 398 pp. Small octavo bound in original grey-green bookcloth. Corners a little rubbed, spine tail worn away. Interior endpapers quite darkened, front end paper has the bookplate of Hall Park McCullough (1872-1966) , the son and grandsome of two Vermont governors, and one of the founders of Bennington College. Cracking at the introduction with some short clean tear at the bottom gutter there, otherwise clean and unmarked. Stories contained are The Smugglers; The Old Story; Around the Clock (A Wedding Day in the Olden Time) ; The Lawyer's Story and The Metastasis. Extremely scarce, WorldCat (OCLC 76789261) records no copies and none are found for sale anywhere. According to his 1902 obituary in the St. Johnsbury Caledonian, Harrington wrote two novels, one of which is in the HathiTrust, the other (this one) is vanishingly scarce, he also wrote a small volume of poetry and contributed to local magazines. A nice copy of an extremely unusual Vermont ort, with wonderful provenance. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 398 pages .
