Happy Christmas from the Happy Lion An attractive collection of correspondence from the Swiss-born American writer and illustrator Roger Duvoisin (1900-1980) and his wife Louise (Loulou) Fatio to their friends, Helen and Max. Roger Duvoisin won the 1948 Caldecott Medal for White Snow, Bright Snow, written by Alvin Tresselt (D. Lothrop Co., 1947). He and his wife created together the Happy Lion series (1954-80), which, in its German-language edition (Der glückliche Löwe), won the inaugural 1956 Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis. Comprising 7 colour Christmas cards hand-drawn by Duvoisin; 2 autograph letters signed, one with coloured drawings; map drawn in red black and green ink showing the location of the Duvoisins' house; and 2 single sheets with maxims on art copied from Chinese authorities written in pencil by Duvoisin. In excellent condition.
