First printing Near fine in dark red-orange cloth covered boards with gilt text stamping on the spine with map end sheets with a very slight lean to the spine. In a near fine dust jacket with the price intact on the front flap and with only a hint of wear to the ends of the spine area. Bolitho receives the promotion he has wanted since first going to sea: He is placed in command of the sloop The Sparrow near the close of the American Revolution. An uncommon early title and one in beautiful condition!
