About This Item

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1910. First edition. Near fine.. First printing of this unusual and delightfully shaped book whose story takes advantage of its angled format, by illustrator and book innovator Peter Newell, a lovely copy. Peter Newell was noted for his "trick books," which incorporated the shape of the book into the story. In a thematically appropriate choice, the book narrates the tale of a baby in a runaway carriage who has all sorts of adventures as his vehicle slides into trouble in his slanted world. A nice copy of a book usually seen in rough shape. 9'' x 7''. Original cloth-backed pictorial boards. Illustrated in shades of brown. [48] pages. Boards with mild rubbing, light bumping to corners. Clean.
