In two volumes. Xii, 362; iv, 332, [20] (index, errata) pp. Lacking the folding plate assigned to Vol I. This copy ex-library, complete in contents, save for the folding plate, but with bindings in disrepair. A binding copy. Prior basic restorations have failed and little is left to salvage of the bindings. Cords perished. Occasional library circular blind stamp to page surface; informational text bookplate for the prior owner, John Watts de Peyster, whose book and monetary donations established the Library at Franklin and Marshall College, are mounted to the verso of title pages both volumes. The contents in generally VG condition, suitable for rebinding. Craufurd served some years with the East India Company, and his observations on politics, religion and daily life extend beyond India to his views on Japan, Korea, "Siam" and China.
