Contemporary ownership signature at top of title-page. Ink stamp on the title-page and on page one: "Ex Biblioth./Universitatis/Aberdonensis." Bookplate laid down on front pastedown: "Ex Libris / Illus. / Samuel. X / Radbill M.D." (Honorary Librarian of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and Curator of the Osler Library) + bookplate: "Gordon W. Jones, M.D. / Falmouth / Virginia." Noted in pencil on FFEP, First English Edition, First published in French 1804. / Castiglion: History of Medicine p. 752". A very attractive copy with an interesting history. <br /> <br /> Cabanis was a French physician, physiologist and materialist philosopher. One of the writings of P.J.G. Cabanis is listed in the "Catalogue of the Library of Thomas Jefferson" and notes of correspondence between Cabanis and Jefferson (LOC). Translated from French by Alexander Henderson. <br /> <br /> NOTE: Last copy recorded as sold on Rare Book Hub was the The Property of The Royal Medical Society, Edinburgh (Sold at Sotheby's in 1969).
