About This Item
London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1936. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Printing of the First Edition. About fine but for a little wear to the extremities, and faint yellowing to the spine. The head and heel of spine, though worn, show no splits or fraying. The jacket has a half inch chip from the bottom corner of the spine, that removes most of the N in Stoughton, an eighth inch chip at head of spine, and is lightly edgeworn. The spine is sunned, but is still completely legible. The illustrated front panel is complete, and bright. Uncommon in jacket..
Synopsis
First published in 1936, Sir Percy Leads the Band is (chronologically) the second of the Scarlet Pimpernel series by Baroness Orczy. The novel is set in January and February 1793 and follows on from the original Scarlet Pimpernel book. There are similar elements of betrayal in the storyline of Eldorado but this story describes not so much a love triangle as a love pentacle, with poor Doctor Pradel getting it in the neck from everyone.
