Very very rare and hard-to-find title! Red cloth with gilt lettering and illustration on the front board and gilt lettering on the spine. "Two thousand copies of this Limited Edition, designed by Merle Armitage, have been printed by the Standard Printing Company. The text is set in 12 point Caledonia type, and printed on Lexicon Antique book paper. The maps, title page eagle and chapter head decorations were painted and drawn by P. G. Napolitano. This is copy No. 1321." 282 very clean unmarked and uncreased historical pages nicely enhanced by black and white photographs and illustrations! A fold-out map is in the rear of the book between pages 272 and 273. Mapped endpapers. Extremely scarce and out-of-print signed first edition!
