Map illustrated frontispiece, showing the area described in the book  of the Snowy Mountain Range. The text is illustrated with black and white drawings drawn by Annette MacArthur-Onslow. Blue coloured boards with silver illustration embossed to the lower front board edge (showing horses) and silver titles to the backstrip. Baringa is a silver yearling brumby colt, and grandson of Thowra  the magnificent Silver Brumby. He and his mares must travel southwards to find safety and new pastures to graze. They hoped to escape from their enemies, but found more problems, and it will take all the brains and power of the grandson of Thowra to solve. This is part of the " Brumby " series, set in the magnificent Australian Alps and the wild horses who roam in its environs. Softening of the backstrip edges and rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Sunning and staining to the backstrip staining to the rear book panel. Light browning in foxing to the textblock edges and light age toning of the pages. Gift inscription to the free front end paper and original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down.
