About This Item
The Curwen Press. London: The Curwen Press (1942). First edition 1 of 300 copies. 8vo., Cream card covers; pp. 55 +[1]; A very good copy. Light marks to the upper cover. A couple of heavier black marks to the lower cover. One corner to the lower cover creased. Binding still holding firm. The author M.P Victor Cazalet has inscribed to Pamela and Reggie to the top of the card covers and written "When shall i see you? Victor". Major Victor Cazalet recollects his epic journey with General Sikorski Prime Minister of Poland, as Winston Churchill's political liaison officer. They both headed off to Russia to see how the Polish-Soviet agreement was working. To get there they took 126 hours of flying time across 12,000 miles that Cazalet said lasted 10 weeks in total. They took in Gibraltar, Malta, Egypt, Tobruk, Baghdad, Teheran and then Russia. The trip was said to be a resounding success with closer ties fostered with Stalin. A year later Cazalet and Sikorski would take off from Gibraltar again, a location the author said in this book were difficult to fly in and out of, but disastrously their plane would crash seconds from take off and they wouldn't survive. It is a rare title due to the low print run and particularly so with Victor Cazalet's signature and inscription on the front cover. . Very Good. Soft cover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1942.
