A mystery story of such high caliber is unusual, and this book adds a memorable contribution to the world's best detective literature." from the front flap. Inscribed and signed by this Prairie author on the ffep in the year of publication, to Mr. H.S. Henderson (perhaps of the large Henderson Bros. printing house) "My very best wishes for his good fortune / Faithfully Yours Hopkins Moorhouse Wpg. Dec / 21". Dark green, coated linen cloth over boards with title stamped in black onto upper board and spine, 12mo size (7.5 inches tall), pp. [x], [1]-310, [2]. Volume w. a definite forward slant, a single gutter crack at p. 118, three very tiny rubs to upper joint, ffep mildly toned. Price-intact wraparound DJ w. light wear and rubs, back panel w. a 2 inch x 1 inch chip from bottom edge and a 1 inch "V" shaped closed tear, modest chips to spine and flap folds. A decent copy of an inscribed, early detective fiction title, still sporting it's original jacket. From the DJ spine panel "An Addison Kent detective story, with a mystery you can't solve, a humour that will captivate you, and a real romance." Published in 1922 by McCann in the US and Hodder in the UK. Ref. Hubin (1994) p. 583.
