London: Curwen, 1936. First Edition. (London: The Curwen Press March 1936). A Softcover. First UK Edition. Limited to 1,000 copies. Signature was a thrice yearly journal devoted to typography and graphic arts. Contents includes, inter alia,: (a) Lithography - A Painter's Excursion by Barnett Freedman including a lithograph by Barnett Freedman together with colour keys; (b) Two drawings by James Laver including a collotype reproduction of a drawing by Paul Nash and a collotype reproduction of a drawing by Barnett Freedman; (c) The Woodcut Calligraphy of Reynolds Stone by John Carter; and (d) The New Tauchnitz Format by Harry Carter including a four-page inset of an exhibit of Tauchnitz covers. An important and rare issue. Laid in is a Prospectus of 'Signature' SECOND SERIES (Published in November, March and July) to be published at 3s. per number with postage at 4d. or 10s. per annum post free. Highly recommended!
