New York: A.L. Burt Company Publishers, 1898. Doyle's second Sherlock Holmes story, originally published in 1890, has had at least ten film adaptations. This is a Very good copy of an early American issue; there is no publication date, but the publisher address indicates no earlier than 1898. Dark red ribbed cloth binding with titling and decoration in gilt on the spine. Clean text; 364 pages. Previous-owner stamp on the front paste-down. There is a crack at the Contents page, but it is holding very well. Mild rub to the margins and a one-inch stain/abrasion to the front cover. No dustjacket; in a archival plastic ptotector.. Reprint Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
