DJ: Near Fine; NOT Price Clipped ($28.95); light rubbing and superficial scratches on the panels. Brown paper over boards with black overlay on the spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine. 399 pp 8vo. When Germany invaded France in 1940, the arts community of France did not know what to expect from the foreign occupation. Far from being depressed, the arts flourished and over the next four years, the artistic life of Paris went on almost like in peacetime. Actors, dancers, composers, writers, painters, movie makers, and singers performed for German and French audiences, unless one was Jewish. A clean very presentable copy.
