[BATE, George]. [ALMACK, Edward, editor]. A Short Narrative of the Late Troubles in England. First Written in Latin by an Anonymus, for the information of Forreners, and now do into English, for the behoof and pleasure of our Countrey-men 1649. 12mo, original gilt decorated imitation vellum, frontispiece (slightly foxed), pp. [xl], 151, t.e.g., uncut. London: F. E. Robinson & Co., 1902.

This is a translation of Bate's Elenchus Motuum Nuperorum in Anglia. Cyril Davenport contributed an interesting "Note on the Binding," pp. ix-xiii, in which he says, "The binding chosen for the present edition...is taken from that covering some Almanacks of 1624, which were bouind together for Charles, Prince of Wales..." The editor's Introduction takes up pp. xvii-=xxxi. With an index. Thin half inche piece at the left side of the bottom of the spine missing, otherwise nearly fine.
