About This Item
Chicago: The Log Cabin Bookery, n.y.. Paperback. Small 4to. Seven 8½" X 11" leaves (all but one printed rectos only), stapled along top. Very good. Moderately age toned. Intreresting sales catalogue, a crude mimeographed two-column production describing 154 items -- intriguing in that we and other Lincoln specialists have never heard of or seen catalogues of this apparent Lincoln specialist who worked from 166 West Jackson Blvd. in Chicago around the same time that the noted Abraham Lincoln Book Shop was coming to prominence. Although undated, a notice for Anne Colver's upcoming "Mr. Lincoln's Wife" (published 1943) noted as "Ready in February" suggests a late 1942 date of issuance. Outer address panel (mailed for 1½ cents!) notes recipient as Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar). Unusual ephemera for the Lincoln completist.
