John Sharpe, 1822. A fine copy in in decorative full gilt calf.. Binding: Original full calf boards with tooled gilt and blind tooled decorative rules. Four raised bands in five compartments. Elaborate tooled gilt design on spine. Marbled pasted and free end papers, edges marbled. Gilt dentelles.
Ilustrated with 6 plates including frontis.

Falconer was one of the three survivors of a trading ship on voyage from Alexandria to Venice and in 1751 he wrote and published a poem on the death of Frederick, Prince of Wales. He had also contributed poems to the Gentleman\\\\\\\'s Magazine. The poem The Shipwreck was dedicated to the then rear-admiral Duke of York where the poem states:
From regions where Peruvian billows roar,
To the bleak coasts of savage Labrador.
