Princeton Princeton University Press, 1948, First Edition. hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. -- Folded Merry Christmas 1959 postcard addressed to Mr & Mrs Louis B. Cox, Dublin, Ireland, is laid in: written and SIGNED by the author, "Love to all the Coxes" followed by a 17-line poem, An Old Field Mowed etc. in the author's hand. This poem was published in The New Yorker September 30 1961. -- Also laid in is a photocopy, 4 pages of a diary in Meredith's hand, containing: a poem-in-progress, mention of poetry by and conversations with fellow naval officer and poet Louis Coxe (whose ownership is in this book), Pacific war patrol on ship and shore, one date is 10-xi-44. -- Hardcover, pretty printed boards. Condition: near fine (endsheets bit discolored; no jacket).
