Patterned stringtied wrappers with French flaps and pastedown label. Interior leaves lightly toned on edges, otherwise clean. Previous owners name on first endpaper. Very good. Book review and index of Harvard publications in this series laid in.
This essay is the authors attempt to study the unadorned elements of the long English Gothic romances which led to many shorter gothic tales in chapbook form. Illustrated with two actual frontispiece engravings from actual chapbooks. Re-printed in 1967; both editions are scarce.
