Octavo, 280pp. Full blue cloth, title in gilt on spine. Stated "First published in September Mcmxxxvi" on copyright page. Solid text block, light wear to corners, sunned spine, faint toning to endpapers. Publisher's advertising slip laid in at front. In the publisher's dust jacket, 7s. 6d. retail price on front flap. Sunning to spine, faint dampstain to top corner. This is the final volume in Sassoon's trilogy of fictional autobiographies from the point of view of George Sherston, a World War I veteran.
