New York: Harper & Brothers, 1887. First edition with the Abbey illustrations, 1887. Externally fair to good, internally very good. Deluxe edition, 14.75" tall, bound in full leather and illustrated with tissue protected plates printed against a tan background, additional drawings throughout the text. Full tan calf leather lettered and extensively decorated in gilt, all edges gilt, brown endpapers speckled with gilt, attached ribbon bookmark, 177 pages. Considerable edge rubbing and chipping, including the spine ends, but with little loss of gilt printing or designs, two narrow areas with leather surface peeled on rear cover, good hinges, firm text block, clean pages, bookplate of Mary Stull Studebaker, wife of the car company's co-founder J. M. Studebaker, on the front pastedown, gift card to Mrs. J.M. Studebaker from Mr. Frederick S. Fish laid in loosely at the front.. First Thus. Hard Cover. Good. Folio - 12" - 15" Tall.
