New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1918. This is a First Printing as designated by a (1) on the last page of text, Page 382, a system used by this particular publisher. (Despite claims to the contrary, unless the (1) is present and not some higher number, the book is NOT a First.) The book is in Very Good condition (click on photo). The book is bound in light brown boards with pastel green titles on the front panel and on the deep brown cloth spine. The book shows rubbing from shelf wear along the edges, corners, and spine. The binding is tight and secure. There is a signature of a former owner on the reverse of the frontis illustration, as well as scarring from where an earlier owner's book plate was removed. The book includes four handsome black-and-white illustrations by H.M. Brett. The text pages are clean, without stains or tears. The book measures 5 1/4 by 7 5/8 inches and includes 382 pages.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. Illus. by H.M. Brett. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
