About This Item

Quarto 27x21.5 cm., wrappers, (16) pp. of lithographs. Evgenii Lvovich Shvarts (1896-1958) was an author, playwright, and screenwriter. He worked in Gozizdat under Samuil Marshak in the 1920s and contributed to Hedgehog (Ezh). After 1929 he joined the theater and soon film making, while continuing to create children's books. Aleksei Yefimov (1888-?) was employed by the Raduga publishing house, where he illustrated a good number of books in collaboration with the authors. OCLC locates one holding for the first edition (Princeton) and two for the later 1929 edition. 850
