A novel of New York in the early 20th century, from the mansions of New York's wealthy Irish to the drab rooming houses of the working-class poor they employ, Shannon traces the lives and loves of two couples ensnared by their dreams. Green half cloth binding with silver titles, green boards; clean and unmarked, sunned along edges, lower edges rubbed. spine ehad and heel slightly compressed. Tight and solid, square. Former owner name and date on endpaper. Pages clean, no markings or tears. White jacket with green print and illustration is generally clean with some light graying of the white, spine sunned, triangular piece out of back side of lower edge. 402 pages. 9.5 x 6.25 inches. 1981, Little, Brown & Company, Boston and Toronto
