The text is illustrated with numerous colour reproductions of contemporary art, black-and-white illustrations of contemporary art, black-and-white photographs showing scenes from some of Shakespeare's plays, along with modern photography of Elizabethan buildings and ephemera. 1/4 dark purple coloured cloth covered backstrip with gilt titles. 3/4 illustrated boards showing Shakespeare and some of the Elizabethan personalities. A biography of Shakespeare and of his time. Softening to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and rubbing to the book corners and to the book panels. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
