Octavo, xii, 124pp. Black and yellow cloth, title in purple on front cover and spine. Red topstain. Stated "Third Printing, October 1947" on copyright page. Solid text block, touch of sunning to spine, rubbed corners, toning to endpapers. Complete with frontis and 12 full-page illustrations by E.McKnight Kauffer. In the publisher's dust jacket, $3.00 retail price on front flap, light shelf wear, sunning to spine, a few small stains to rear panel, a very good example. (Blockson 6355) Signed by Hughes on the front free endpaper: "For Elizabeth ---, Sincerely, Langston Hughes / June 3, 1949.
