London: Chatto & Windus, 1937. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First UK edition and 1 of 10 special copies. 8vo. Pp. 424. Quarter black buckram, with gold and black patterned papers over wooden boards with beveled edges, and gilt lettering to the spine. The paper over the boards chipped a little at the bottom edges, spine ends with very light rubbing and bumping, top edge gilt, hinges strong and the binding tight and square. Nice clean copy. Inscribed by Prokosch on the half-title, "for James, affectionately from Freddie / London. Oct. 10 1937," and again at the foot of that page, "one of 10 special copies / Frederic Prokosch.
