Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. No DJ. Edges relatively square and very little shelf wear to corners. Edges of textblock darkened and foxed. Spine roll. Hinges cracking at front matter and rear advertisement pages. Index pages have been previously repaired at edges and at hinges. Index is detached from hinge in some places but still complete. Foxing and age-tanning to pages but otherwise clean and unmarked. Included ephemera: 1949 clipping from The Benefit News. An important endeavor by Lizzie Black Kander, the founder of the Settlement House in Milwaukee. The Settlement cookbooks were produced as part of a larger effort to help Jewish immigrants. This 16th edition would be a continuation and revision of the work that Kander started in 1901 and would carry on until her death in 1940. Cookbooks

Reviews

On Feb 7 2017, a reader said:
Better than Joy 75 and Cook's. Old style cooking that women of WWE I & II used daily. Lard, leftovers, how to set a table are all assumed today. Not here. No electronics all business. Probably the text 4 Home Economy. From 1950 to 1965. I have a broken 65 edition and the others, but am always pulling it out 2 c how my mom would have done a cerrtain casserole or roast or pastry or cookie or desert.
