Cincinnati: Printed by S. Tizzard, at the Sentinel and Star Office. Fair with no dust jacket. 1830. First Edition; Thirteenth Printing. Paperback. Original 1830 imprint, not a reprint. Leather cover is very worn and hinges starting to seperate. Rebind candidate. Pages yellow with age and show some water staining but clean otherwise and text very readable. "Essay on the Coming of the Son of Man" which is the last section (part) in the book. May be other pages missing at end but it looks complete from the extensive description given on the title page as to what is covered, the missing text on page 73 and 74 looks to be the final two pages of this last section. The first section or part "Series of Strictures on the subject of Future and Endless Punishment, etc." is complete with a total of 93 pages. The debate was bewteen the Rev. E Ray (Edwin Ray was an early pioneer Methodist preqchers of Indiana and died in 1831. He was received in the Ky Conference in 1822) and the the publisher, J. Kidwell. To which is added a reply to Dr. Adam Clark's notes on the phrase Everlasting punishment; together with an original essay on the "Coming of the son of Man"; and A vocabulary, explanatory of the original words, rendered Hell, Damnation, Everlasting, Eternal taken from the critical remarks of some of the most cleebrated orthodox writers, showing that their honest and candid criticism enters a solemn negtative on all their speculations about a place of Future and Endless Punishment.
