10 inches tall hardcover recently rebound in red buckram with gilt title on spine, 456 pages uncut, age-toned, with scattered light foxing and occasional marginal pencil notes. Overall very good.

SIR ASTLEY PASTON COOPER (1768 - 1841) was an English surgeon and anatomist, who made historical contributions to otology, vascular surgery, the anatomy and pathology of the mammary glands and testicles, and the pathology and surgery of hernia. From the first he devoted himself to the study of anatomy, and had the privilege of attending the lectures of John Hunter. In 1800 he was appointed surgeon to Guy's Hospital on the death of his uncle, William Cooper. In 1813 he was appointed professor of comparative anatomy to the Royal College of Surgeons and was very popular as a lecturer. In 1817 he performed his famous operation of tying the abdominal aorta for aneurism; and in 1820 he removed an infected sebaceous cyst from the head of George IV. He was subsequently appointed sergeant surgeon to George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria. He served as president of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1827 and again in 1836, and he was elected a vice-president of the Royal Society in 1830.

Limited Edition #446/950 is a collection of loosely gathered signatures - complete as issued - printed on "Velin de Lana" paper with 366 charming erotic color illustrations. Book itself is in G condition - offsetting to first few and last few end papers. Original wraps with closed tears to spine, front cover and rear fly. These tears have been repaired using archival acid-free tape. It looks much better now, but these flaws do exist. Pieces from front fly are missing as well. The paper used for both text and wraps is rather fragile. Considering age and materials used the book is in G condition overall - text is clean and complete, wraps are clean and bright despite flaws noted.; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall .

This is accompanied by an 11" X 14" print, a 1991 reproduction of a pencil portrait of Walsh, his fighter plane and his Medal of Honor, boldly signed in pencil at lower right by noted aviation artist Lonnie Ortega.
