With a frontis bearing a photograph of the author, with tissue guard. Includes over sixty pages of notes. Bears G. E. B. Roberts' signature on the front free endpaper. With a preface by Percy Lubbock. Percy Lubbock, CBE (1879-1965) was an English man of letters, known as an essayist, critic and biographer. He was a good friend of Henry James in James' later life, and became a follower in literary terms, and his editor after his death. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor wear to the extremities. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light discolouration to the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd scattered spot and handling mark. Very Good Indeed
