Faber and Faber, 1938. Hardcover. Acceptable/Acceptable. 1938. First Edition. 128 pages. Yellow dust jacket over red cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Pages are slightly tanned with minor foxing throughout. Minor dust marks to pastedowns and endpapers. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping and fraying to corners and rubbing to surface. Notable tanning to spine with noticeable crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is slightly darkened. Clipped jacket has visible edge-wear with notable tears, areas of loss and chipping. Prominent tanning, rubbing and marking. Dust marks all over dust jacket. Rear panel and flap are detached from the spine, front panel and flap.

This collection gathers all the poems W.H. Auden wished to preserve, in the texts that received his final approval. Together, the works display the beautiful range of Auden's voice and the breadth of his concerns, and his deep knowledge of the traditions he inherited.
