The first edition, first impression of this volume of a selection of poems from Rupert Brooke. Rupert Chawner Brooke was an English poet known for his idealistic war sonnets written during the First World War. Included in this volume is 'The Soldier', his best known poem. Brooke died in 1915 on a French hospital ship in the Aegean sea. With a frontispiece photographic portrait to this work, Brooks was also known for his  good looks, which were said to have prompted the Irish poet W. B. Yeats to describe him as 'the handsomest young man in England'.With four pages of advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Fading to front board. Contemporary owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
