About This Item
London: Sidgwick and Jackson. 1917. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Original brown cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. With a black and white tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of the author. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the extremities with some rubbing and toning. The lightly toned contents have a previous owner's contemporary inscription to the front free endpaper, light spotting to the text block edges, and occasional spots and marks internally. Complete with the original dustwrapper which is significantly toned, particularly to the spine, has minor chipping to the spine tips and flap folds, and a little nicking to the edges. Not price-clipped (3/6 net to the spine). Uncommon in the dustwrapper. The first printing of this posthumous collection of Brooke's poetry was issued in two formats: brown cloth in a thin 'onion skin' translucent dustwrapper (printed in black), priced 3/6 net; or reddish brown sheepskin binding in cream thicker paper dustwrapper (printed in red), priced at 5/- net. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
