Chicago: Oleson & Co., Publishers, 1891 Dark olive cloth; decorative red title; gilt spine. Decorated endpapers. Second edition; first published 1889. Compilation of "such formulae of secret remedies and methods as have been recently published in medical and pharmaceutical journals, and their preservation in a form convenient for reference. The only changes made have been the adoption of the abbreviations oz., dr., etc., in place of the usual signs." With concoctions from albadermine ( a method of treatment for the removal of "tan" and the milder variety of "freckles") and Allen's Lung Balsam to Cancer Pastes and Plasters to Kickapoo Indian Oil and Price's Pile Ointment to Thieleman's Cholera Mixture, as well as short sections on "Sexual Disorders and Systematized Quakery," "Tape-Worm Specialists--Their Secret Methods," "Moxie--A Nerve Food," etc. Light-to-moderate rubbing to cover extremities; lower corners bumped. Interior clean, tight, and unworn. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall
