Geological and Natural History Survey of Minnesota, Zoological Series, No. II. Amost entirely devoted to "Synopsis of Entomostraca of Minnesota ..." by C. L. Herrick and C. H. Turner. Turner, who was Herrick's student at the University of Cincinnati and helped Herrick found the Journal of Comparative Neurology, wrote Part III ("Freshwatere Ostracoda of the United States" (pages 277-337) as well as "Appendix to Part II Notes on the Cladocera of the Southeastern Part of the United States" (pages 269-276). Turner was the first African American to receive a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Chicago (1907).
