A compilation of over 100 stories, articles, letters and spot reports and offbeat sidelights on the game of baseball from many famous writers and former players. Introduction by Ted Williams. Front free endpaper contains artistic representation of a ball player cast against the kaleidoscopic background of stadium and crowd by Edmond Kohn. Back free endpaper and pastedown depict a photograph of Opening Day, 1958 in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Contributing authors include Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Whitey Ford and Birdie Tebbetts, Zane Gray, and many other writers, poets, and sports journalists.
