Chiswick: C Whittingham, 1820. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 6.5" by 4". None. A smart, pocket sized edition of James Thomson's famed poetry cycle 'The Seasons'. 'The Seasons' is a cycle of four poems. It was extremely influential and inspired the likes of Joseph Haydn, Thomas Gainsborough and many more individuals. 'Winter' was first published in 1726 and the completed cycle appeared in 1730. With the contemporary inscription of one Francis Gray to the verso of front endpaper. Engraved frontispiece of Thomson and an engraved title page. A smart copy of this noted work. In a diced calf binding. Rebacked, with the original boards preserved. Prior owner's inscription to the verso of front endpaper, 'Francis Gray'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
