Ex-lib with typical markings including sticker remnant to front board, cardpocket scar and "Withdrawn" stamp to front free endpaper, and black marker lines to page block edges. No underlining, highlighting, etc inside. Binding solid and square. Studies of schizophrenic children and their relationships with their parents, presented in the format of ficitonalized diaries, and based upon amalgams of actual case histories. The title refers to the basic human impulse - the search for a response from one human to another - "And when this comes about we no longer are alien and alone - and the world is not a threatening place in which to be. We are available to one another in our response. 'I really do not want you to take care of me, to feel like me, in small particulars - I just want a response from you.'
