Original navy cloth with publisher's emblem in gilt on front cover, gilt lettering spine. EX-LIBRARY with shadow of spine sticker and spine number, faded spine, rubbed spine ends with loss, rubbed corners, new EPs, faint library blindstamp on title pages, photos plates have same library blindstamp, folding map has library blindstamp. Binding cracked between two or three gatherings but not broken or falling apart (binding is sound). Complete with all plates and map. The book measures 24cm tall x 16cm, and has 287 pages, 48 b/w photos, folding map, 10 appendices, index. Andrew Irvine who died on Mt Everest with George Mallory in 1924 was a member of the 1923 expedition in this book. This book includes a portrait photo of Irvine in polar dress. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
