About This Item
This is a stated first edition of The Sea Remembrs: Shipwrecks and Archaeology, from Homer's Greece to the Rediscovery of the Titanic. This copy is from the first issue, in the UK. It was written by the American pioneer underwater archaeologist Peter Throckmorton (1928-1990).
It includes detailed illustrations of many famous lost ships--see the Table of Contents photo.
From a review:
I'll give it five stars for the uniquely detailed information on important maritime archaeological digs of recent history. The chapters on Mediterranean finds in the early days of scuba/aqualung exploration were totally fascinating.
The details of each dig were completely overwhelming and I had to start glossing over all the technical minutiae if I was ever going to get through it, but the highlights of historical maritime archaeology was well worth the overall read.
It's a large book: 240 pages, 9 1/4" x 11 3/4". Packed full of photos, maps etc.
It was originally a library book. The library stamped its name on the first few pages, and the book itself was wrapped (and remains wrapped in light paper), but the dust jacket was never covered over and it was never put on the shelves.
So, aside from a tiny bit of shelfwear to the dust jacket, it's in mint condition.
