Central News Agency, 1949. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Publisher's original green buckram boards with gilt titling to the spine and a decorative vignette to the upper board. Some whitish blemishes mainly to the spine ends. Dark green pictorial end papers. 550pp. + xvi prelims. Map and over 1200 figure drawings and 104 plates. The frontis is starting to come adrift and it and the title page have some spots. Prev owner's name dd 1949 to ffep. Many of the pages and plates have a little edge toning. Very heavy book - 3.1kg. This is the true first edition.
