According to his obituary, "at his best, Zorach, through simplification of form and monumentality, dealt with life's poetry, love, childhood, and the beauty of living things...His involvement with the State of Maine was a continuous one. Both the animals in many of his pieces and the stone to carve them were often found on his Robinhood farm.
