Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1874. First Edition. First edition. 278 pp. with most pages printed in bicolumnar format. Bound in publisher's brown pebbled cloth, lettered in gilt, brown coated endpapers. About Very Good with wear and a little staining to cloth, spine sunned, small stain to top edge intruding into inner margins of text, small tear to ffep, a few reading stains. An unsophisticated copy of the very first American bibliomystery, which begins at a rare book auction and deals with contemporary bookstores, booksellers, and collectors.
