About This Item
New York: Venanzi Memorial Committee, 1921. First Edition. Octavo (21cm). Later cloth, titled in gilt on spine; xxiii,304pp. Very Good, with mild wear to board edges and the rear board mildly pulled. Ex-libris Alfredo Verrico, Italian-American film producer and exporter, with his engraved bookplate and blind-embossed stamp.
Memorial anthology of writings by Venanzi (1882-1920), an Italian-American anarchist-socialist labor leader and founder of the Italian Labor Alliance. Includes a substantial introduction by Venanzi's close associate, the Italian-American I.W.W. organizer and poet Arturo Giovannitti. The book was originally issued in pictorial wrappers with an elaborate cover design by Onorio Ruotolo; the cover wrappers are sadly lacking on this copy (we are also aware of at least one copy in pictorial boards, utilizing the same design, but our copy shows evidence of having been the wrappered issue). Uncommon; OCLC notes only five locations, all in North America.
